AI Voiceover Cost Calculator
Enter your monthly voiceover volume below. The calculator compares plans using the retry-burn rates we measured in testing — not the credit tables the marketing pages show.
The gap matters: ElevenLabs' Starter table implies ~$0.16 per finished minute; our retry-burn test measured ~$0.30. Plans you price on the table are plans you overspend on.
The calculator
Volume: 30 finished minutes/month (0.5 hours)
Assumptions from our tests: ElevenLabs Starter ≈ 17 finished min usable (44% retry burn measured), ElevenLabs Creator ≈ 105 finished min, Murf Creator ≈ 126 finished min (20% re-gen measured). Raw credit tables claim 30 / 100 / 144 minutes respectively. When a plan's usable minutes fall short of your volume, we show the annual-billing price of the next workable plan. Prices checked November 2026 and subject to change — verify on the vendor's pricing page before buying.
How to read the results
- "Usable minutes" is the number that matters. Every rejected take burns credits. We measured 1 bad take per 10 generations on ElevenLabs but a 44% effective burn on Starter (short raw allowance + retries), versus ~20% on Murf Creator.
- Cheapest plan ≠ cheapest per minute. At low volume Starter wins on absolute price; past ~20 finished minutes/month the per-minute math flips hard toward Murf, and past ~30 toward ElevenLabs Creator.
- Cost isn't the only axis. Realism (won by ElevenLabs 4–1 in our blind test), precision reading (won by Murf), and workflow are priced in our reviews, not here.
The data behind the numbers
Every burn rate in this calculator comes from hands-on tests in our full reviews: the ElevenLabs review (retry-burn test, plan trap analysis) and the Murf review (re-gen rate, per-minute cost math). The head-to-head is in our ElevenLabs vs Murf comparison, and genre-specific math is in the YouTube and audiobook guides.
FAQ
Why don't the numbers match the vendors' pricing pages?
Vendors quote raw credit-table minutes. We quote usable finished minutes after measured retry burn — the number your invoice actually reflects.
Can I use this for audiobook-length projects?
Yes — set the slider to your monthly finished minutes. A 6-hour book is 360 minutes; most people render it across 1–2 months, so use your realistic monthly render rate.
Is this calculator free?
Yes, no signup, no email gate. It runs entirely in your browser. If it saved you money, the best thanks is linking to it.
